Software Engineering (Honours) graduate from Monash University Malaysia. I build production software end to end — from React storefronts and Node APIs to Odoo ERP modules and C#/.NET internal platforms. Most recently a Firmware Engineering Intern at Western Digital, where I shipped an internal analytics platform used by enterprise HDD firmware teams.

My introduction
I'm Benjamin Tan En Zhe, a Software Engineering (Honours) graduate from Monash University
Malaysia. Over three internships and a year-long development contract I've worked
across the full stack — designing data pipelines and APIs, customising ERP platforms, and
building interfaces people actually use day to day.
What I enjoy most is the point where engineering meets the business: understanding what a
team is really trying to do, then delivering something maintainable within a real budget and a
real deadline. At ERS Energy that meant replacing a proposed third-party feature with a
purpose-built Odoo helpdesk system and saving roughly USD 40,000. I also lead
outside of code — as Vice-President and Head Coach of the Monash Tennis Club and as an event
manager for two student engineering chapters.

My journey so farFull Stack Software Engineering Intern
Western Digital · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Built the internal “MatIndex” platform in C# (ASP.NET MVC) and SQL to score and track code health across enterprise HDD firmware teams.
- Integrated data pipelines from Jira Cloud APIs and the internal Self-Service DB, enabling automated scoring, analytics and developer insights.
- Cut manual reporting effort and standardised health metrics across engineering groups.
- Applied DDD, Unit of Work, Autofac and modern API practices to keep components clean and modular.
Developer Contract
ERS Energy Sdn Bhd · Hybrid- Customised the Odoo ERP platform with Python and XML to meet client-specific business requirements.
- Delivered a customer service module under tight budget constraints, working closely with stakeholders to balance scope against cost.
- Gained hands-on experience in enterprise software architecture and agile delivery under real commercial pressure.

Radiant GlobalTech Berhad · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Built the Ecoshop UI website with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, improving the customer browsing experience.
- Worked alongside designers and backend developers to ensure seamless integration.

Greatech Technology Berhad · Penang, Malaysia- Assembled and maintained automated machinery for First Solar US, boosting efficiency by 15%.
- Interpreted electrical and mechanical drawings, improving cross-team collaboration and project accuracy.
BEng Software Engineering (Honours)
Monash University Malaysia- Final Year Project and coursework spanning full-stack web, AI/ML, embedded systems and data-driven applications.
- Scrum Master for the Agile Management Tool project; built an AI-driven Pac-Man agent and a Java/JavaFX multiplayer game.
- Prototyped a natural-disaster mitigation device for the James Dyson Award using SolidWorks and 3D printing.

EcoStyle — Sustainable Fashion E-Commerce
Full-stack storefront and admin platform for ethical fashion. Product browsing, wishlists, cart and Stripe checkout on the customer side; real-time inventory and order management on the admin side via Firestore. I led the team as Scrum Master and built both the React frontend and the Node REST API.
ERS — Odoo Helpdesk Ticketing System
A custom helpdesk built inside Odoo ERP for ERS Energy, covering the full ticket lifecycle from pre-installation to maintenance. Role-based access for managers, CS agents, salespeople and technicians; automated activity chaining for site inspections; and analytics with Excel/CSV export. Replaced a third-party build and saved the company roughly USD 40,000.
Santorini — Digital Board Game
A Java/Swing implementation of the Santorini strategy board game, built from scratch: turn-based logic, movement and building validation, god-power cards and win-condition detection. I designed the modular OOP architecture and added an original Coin Mode that layers an in-game economy over the classic rules.
Agile Management Tool
A sprint and backlog management web app for agile teams, built with a real client brief. I served as Scrum Master — running ceremonies, translating client needs into user stories, and delivering the board, task assignment and progress tracking features.

Built during my internship at Radiant GlobalTech: a customer-facing storefront plus a stock-level adjustment flow that lets staff reconcile inventory accurately. Delivered in collaboration with the design and backend teams.

Stable Office Automation Live
Rebuilt this office furniture supplier's site from WordPress to custom PHP, replacing a plugin-heavy install with a lean, database-driven build. Delivered a 386-product catalogue with category browsing, a quotation request flow and WhatsApp enquiry, for a company trading across northern Malaysia since 1987.

A client website for an interior design studio specialising in modern office homes and interiors. Built in PHP with Bootstrap: a categorised product range, downloadable catalogues, a certificates section and an events page, all under a deliberately editorial “simple luxury” look.
