Software Engineering (Honours) graduate from Monash University Malaysia. I build production software end to end — from React storefronts and Node APIs to Odoo ERP modules, C#/.NET internal platforms and live business websites. Most recently a Full Stack Software Engineering Intern at Western Digital, where I built MatIndex, a code-health platform adopted by engineering teams in Malaysia and India.

My introduction
I'm Benjamin Tan En Zhe, a Software Engineering (Honours) graduate from Monash University
Malaysia. Through internships at Western Digital and Radiant GlobalTech, an Odoo developer
role at ERS Energy and live websites for three local businesses, I've worked across the full
stack — designing data pipelines and APIs, customising ERP platforms, and building interfaces
people actually use day to day.
What I enjoy most is the point where engineering meets the business: understanding what a
team is really trying to do, then delivering something maintainable within a real budget and a
real deadline. At ERS Energy that meant replacing a proposed third-party feature with a
purpose-built Odoo helpdesk system and saving roughly USD 40,000. I also lead
outside of code — as Vice-President and Head Coach of the Monash Tennis Club, where I ran the
Monash Cup 2025 and won bronze in it, and as an event manager for two student chapters.

My journey so farFull Stack Software Engineering Intern
Western Digital · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Joined the Global Software Tools & Infrastructure (GSTI) team and built MatIndex, a full-stack internal platform in C# (ASP.NET Core) and SQL that scores code health, adopted by engineering teams at WD's Malaysia and India sites.
- Replaced manual code-health reporting with automated scoring and dashboards, giving both sites one consistent, data-driven view of code quality.
- Engineered data pipelines from the Jira Cloud REST API and an internal Self-Service database, powering real-time scoring, team-level analytics and developer insights.
- Designed backend modules with Domain-Driven Design, the Unit of Work pattern and Autofac dependency injection, shipping a production tool in three months.
- Presented MatIndex at three monthly reviews of RAMP, Western Digital's internship programme, to senior managers and directors.
Odoo Developer
ERS Energy Sdn Bhd (with Monash University) · Hybrid- Customised Odoo ERP in Python and XML to build a helpdesk for pre-installation, post-installation and maintenance work, replacing a proposed third-party build and saving about USD 40,000.
- Worked directly with stakeholders to prioritise requirements against a tight budget, and integrated Helpdesk, Sales, Timesheets and Calendar to run the full ticket lifecycle.
- Implemented role-based access with record rules, automated workflow chaining and performance dashboards, and wrote the system documentation and user manual.
Software Engineering Intern
Radiant GlobalTech Berhad · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia- Built the front end of a stock-adjustment approval portal for Eco-Shop Malaysia's outlets, where approvers review adjustments and approve or reject each item with remarks.
- Built admin screens for three-level approval rules by quantity and price, outlet and region settings, and role-based access rights.
- Turned design specifications into responsive pages, working with designers and backend developers to integrate the UI.
Electrical Technician
Greatech Technology Berhad · Penang, Malaysia- Assembled and maintained automated machinery for First Solar (US), contributing to a 15% gain in line efficiency.
- Interpreted electrical and mechanical drawings, improving cross-team collaboration and project accuracy.
Pharmacy Assistant
Georgetown Pharmacy (CARiNG Pharmacy Group) · Kedah, Malaysia- Advised customers on medication on the front line during COVID-19, lifting sales of recommended products by 30%.
- Organised a community health-screening campaign promoting preventive healthcare.
Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours)
Monash University Malaysia- Final Year Project: EcoRoute, a carbon-aware route planner that helps drivers choose lower-energy routes and drive more efficiently.
- Team Lead on EcoStyle and the Java Santorini game, Scrum Master for the Agile Management Tool, and built an AI-driven Pac-Man agent.
- Prototyped a natural-disaster mitigation device for the James Dyson Award using SolidWorks and 3D printing.

Monash University Malaysia Tennis Club- Led beginner and intermediate coaching sessions, growing player skill and club retention.
- Organised and directed the Monash Cup 2025 end to end, and won a bronze medal in it.

- Hosted technical workshops, hackathons and community sessions as Master of Ceremonies, and contributed to AI, ML and cloud projects.

EcoRoute — Carbon Aware Route Planner
My Final Year Project at Monash, built in a team of three. Using only a phone, EcoRoute suggests least-time, least-energy and balanced driving routes, nudges drivers in real time when their driving wastes energy, and works out each trip's CO₂. It runs on NREL's RouteE Compass and FASTSim, with an XGBoost driving-behaviour model (0.946 weighted F1) explained with SHAP.
EcoStyle — Sustainable Fashion E-Commerce
Full-stack storefront and admin platform for ethical fashion. Product browsing, wishlists, cart and Stripe checkout on the customer side; real-time inventory and order management on the admin side via Firestore. I led the team as Scrum Master and built both the React frontend and the Node REST API.
ERS — Odoo Helpdesk Ticketing System
A custom helpdesk built inside Odoo ERP for ERS Energy, covering the full ticket lifecycle from pre-installation to maintenance. Role-based access for managers, CS agents, salespeople and technicians; automated activity chaining for site inspections; and analytics with Excel/CSV export. Replaced a third-party build and saved the company roughly USD 40,000.
Santorini — Digital Board Game
A Java/Swing implementation of the Santorini strategy board game, built from scratch: turn-based logic, movement and building validation, god-power cards and win-condition detection. I designed the modular OOP architecture and added two original modes: Wealth Mode, an in-game economy layered over the classic rules, and Timer Mode.
Agile Management Tool
A sprint and backlog management web app for agile teams, built with a real client brief. I served as Scrum Master — running ceremonies, translating client needs into user stories, and delivering the board, task assignment and progress tracking features.

Ecoshop — Stock Adjustment Approval Portal
Built during my internship at Radiant GlobalTech for Eco-Shop Malaysia: the front end of an internal portal where approvers review stock adjustments by outlet and approve or reject each item, plus admin screens for three-level approval rules by quantity and price, outlet and region settings, and access rights.
mp3.vinyl Live
The online store for an independent vinyl record shop in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Customers browse a catalogue filtered by genre and stock status, then check out with shipping and payment options, pre-order deposits and customer accounts. Collectors can also request specific pressings through a sourcing form.

Stable Office Automation Live
Rebuilt this office furniture supplier's site from WordPress to custom PHP, replacing a plugin-heavy install with a lean, database-driven build. Delivered a catalogue of 400+ products across 25 categories, a quotation request flow and WhatsApp enquiry, for a company trading across northern Malaysia since 1987.

A client website for an interior design studio specialising in modern office homes and interiors. Built in PHP with Bootstrap: a categorised product range, downloadable catalogues, a certificates section and an events page, all under a deliberately editorial “simple luxury” look.

Modulah Live
The brand site for Modulah, Tang Concept's line of handcrafted modular sofas. Each of the seven products has its own page with a photo gallery, dimensions and a downloadable catalogue, and WhatsApp enquiries are pre-filled with the product's name. Visitors can book a showroom visit in three steps, and the homepage opens on a looping brand video.
